TeX For Windows

Can anyone recommend a good TeX shell for Windows XP? I'm thinking of switching to a LaTeX editor for my thesis as I'm a bit unhappy with Word's bibliography system. I'm planning on using MiKTeX as the document compiler, but I can't seem to find a usable and well-supported TeX shell with a bibliography add-on. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Does OpenOffice have any TeX support?

When I was writing myh undergraduate and postgraduate theses, I used a really cool program called EndNote that plugs into Word and manages the references dynamically and will format them on the fly etc.

Might be worth a look on google to see if u can get a copy anywhere.
