    Howdy guys,

    We're looking for someone to be our hardware supremo, maintaining all of our current servers and evaluating and building new ones. This will also require installation and post-installation configuration of servers.

    JOB SPECIFICATION

    JOB TITLE Hardware Engineer

    RESPONSIBLITIES
    Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Ensure that all Hosting365 servers run optimally from a hardware point of view; continuously monitor performance against published SLA targets; consistently strive for excellence and highest system uptimes;
    • Assume special responsibility for all of the following areas:
    - Hardware maintenance on servers.
    - System builds, both hardware and operating systems.
    - Maintenance of the spare parts and other stock.
    - Keeping up to date with hardware trends and best practice.
    - Hardware purchasing and asset tracking.
    • Maintain/upgrade current asset tracking systems.
    • Act as an escalation point for the Helpdesk;
    • Assist in resolving systems outages out-of-hours through participation in an engineer call-out roster;

    SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE

    • Deep knowledge of Intel-based PC and Server hardware. Sun and other systems knowledge also preferred.
    • Excellent working knowledge of networking hardware and configuration.
    • Excellent working knowledge of Internet technologies relevant to ISPs and hosting environments.
    • Excellent understanding of SCSI, RAID and network components.
    • Experience with installing Windows, Linux and Unix.

    • Must be forward thinking and have good planning skills
    • Excellent troubleshooting, judgement, and decision-making skills
    • High level of self-motivation and proven ability for self-study and learning on the job
    • Flexible and dependable
    • Team player

    QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE

    • 3-5 years experience working in a similar role
    • Possession of technical qualifications in a relevant environment a plus.
