I recently got the Stanton STR8-30 entry level turntable. (http://www.stantondj.com/alpha44/load.asp?page=str830).
It needs a phono preamp. I plan to use it to convert my 80s vinyl to MP3.

I've done a little looking around for a preamp.
Sounds Around on Capel Street have one for e59, Cloney Audio in Blackrock have the Project phonobox for e75.
These prices seem quite high relative to the cost of the turntable - e150.
I had a look on eBay UK but some sellers want to charge 25 pounds shipping!! (and only 6 pounds within the UK).

Any suggestions on a preamp to buy and where to get it?

Later I'll have to figure out the computer sound card stuff but one thing at a time.

Honestly I'd go for the project or you risk messing up the sound quality

Yeah I'd agree with Tony on this if you have no other option available such as a HiFi amp with "Phono" input.

By the way Maplin code QM51F is £24 sterling and is what you're looking for, thats UK but I'm sure the Dublin store can get that in for you.

    Link to QM51F
