Anti-capitalist demos............Pfff the Real Threat !!

I heard 96 people were arrested during anti-capitalist demos this week. What a bunch of losers eh? Half the fcukers didn't even know what they were protesting about! They haven't even realised that an even more oppressive policy is being planned as we speak.

A few days ago in the US, George Dubya Bush announced that he wants to revive the old SDI programme, where orbiting space vehicles can shoot down missiles before they reach American soil. The rationale for this plan was that America needs to be protected from evil dictatorships who may one day have nuclear strike capability.

It's a fine plan but has one small drawback. For the whole thing to work they must build an early warning station in Yorkshire the UK, only a few miles from fcuking Dublin! In a planned nuclear strike against the US who do you think would be target number 1? The early warning station of course!!

I don't recall asking to be a prime target for a nuclear missile, I didn't vote for that, I wasn't consulted? George gets some hair brained idea 'cos he's just seen Star Wars for the first time and the English government immediately puts me in the ****ing blast radius!!

It seems I already live near the kind of evil dictatorship that America wants to protect herself from. My next post will be from Iraq - it's safer there.

Er...Ireland is already targeted by the US, Russia, China, UK and France. Were goners if there is a nuclear war.

Yep, we are in a very strategic position here on the edge of the Atlantic. In the last world war I think nearly everybody had invasion plans for Ireland.

Yeah the Americans released a paper a few years back detailing invasion plans.

Plus in a nuclear war, aren't we all pretty ****ed regardless if we are directly hit or not??

Hmmm, maybe the FCA will protect us?

Plus this anti-capitalist demo bull****e is just turning into an annual blood bath/riot. Then again they are creating more jobs for the cleaning,/rebuilding staff eh?

Well Yo Yo Yo, you're not entirely right. The Dublin protest, at least, was as much concerned about the Nice Treaty as it was globalisation. Institutionally, the Nice Treaty is a series of reforms, streamlining the EU commission, council and parliament, lining it up with enlargement. It's also potentially signing up to a European Army since the Western European Union (WEU) will be disbanded and a more closely knit military alliance will be formed. Ireland has opted out of actions other than crisis management and peace-keeping operations but we still join a military bloc.

This is actually linked with the SDI programme. Like PfP, what does the Nice Treaty bring us? A bloated industrial-military complex, a new arms market! Closer EU foreign policy will also mean that there may be more significant links with US and European militaries and this means an unbreakable link with Big Business too.

Maybe many people protesting on May Day didn't know what they were protesting about (execept real protests like the bolivian general strike, critical mass etc.), the actual globalisation issue is inextricably linked with the SDI programme.

In anycase, it'spotentially very, very dangerous.

i remember reading an article a few years ago that said if a nuclear war ever broke out, ireland would more than likely have been occupied by NATO forces, mainly for use as a giant airbase. Thus turning us into a prime target for warsaw pact countries. I doubt we would have had any say in the matter smile.gif

now i believe these were actual contingency plans that were either leaked or declassified. Dunno if anything has changed smile.gif

Bomb people in the name of Capitalism?
What people are you specifically refering to?

They bombed Vietnam in the name of capitalism or as they put it 'saving the world from Communism' Of course this involved butching children and old ladies but the UN stood by and watched cause there a pile of capitalist cowards!

America also used Saddam Husane's (spelling) invasion of Kuwait as an excuse to steal some oil. That wasn't about saving the poor Kuwait people, I am not for Saddam but just think of all the bad and cruel things America has done.

They also left the Kyoto agreement on the Enviorment in favour to fill there pockets with gold. Of course George Bush said he was 'protecting American jobs' but there won't be any people to occupy those jobs in a few years cause we will die of the Pollution that America makes.

    Just think about it!
