Hmm, I'll assume you want mostly English-speaking free channels so I'll direct you to here which lists all the Free ones. Most are on Astra 2 and Eurobird (both are side by side and receivable with one dish/lnb setup)

Lots of satellite stuff on the web, you just have to know where to look... A good place to start is www.satellites.co.uk which is a very active forum with very helpful members (not that this isn't also) and has links to other sites. 20 minutes later you will have some good reading material faq's etc.

here is a tip to beam onto astra 2 and eurobird if ur living in cork so roughly a good starting point for any where in the country. at 9.40 am the sun is roughly in line with the satellites. the dish looks like it is pointing slightly downward.21.5 degrees on the scale make sure the pole is plumb. set the search for 10773,h,22000,5/6, that is the transponder with bbc on. if u get a very strong quality reading on this transponder but no picture or sound ur on astra 1. thats what happened to me. the rest of the bbc channels are on 10803,h,22000,5/6. this one is not programmed into the sl 55 so u have to add it yourself. itv news is on 12032,h,27500,2/3. i.m getting a quality reading of 70% and the picture is perfect. interested in what others with the same system are getting. good luck its well worth 105€.

I recommend you start by buying a copy of 'What Satellite' magazine.
