    Settle a bet!
If you drop a penny from the top of the Empire State - and it lands on a Meath-mans head will it kill him??

I'm pretty sure it would kill a man from any county, nationality, or race.

Now, the question is how long would it take to kill him. That all depends on where in the brain the penny hits.

you would need to find the terminal velocity of the penny edge, then you would have the energy it has, this you can relate to a bullet - the yanks are fond of foot-poundage in describing guns.

try the physics forum for stokes equation for the coin
try the shooting forum for killing power - to see if the velocity would be terminal

BTW: if you have an old punt coin it is the same size as the old pennies as they should be easier to locate if you want to replicate the experiment. ie, time the coin dropped from different heights and plot the times - when the graph is straight it's reached terminal velocity.
