I ordered a beatles boxset from them with free ground shipping. as far as i knew it was in stock. then weeks later i got a shipping confirmation from them. but fair play to them cause they sent it airmail on thursday 16 dec and i got it on monday 20!
dont know if the post is still free but they give you a few shipping options which i love to get (rather than forced airmail prices masked in the product price).

DVDSoon rocks. Delivery once shipped is always 5 days or even less. With the Canadian dollar so weak the prices are amazingly low.

I have been using DVD Soon for the last 2 years.

Their free shipping ends tonight so get your orders in. They do have an affinity card where you get free shipping.

They can be a bit slow with stuff they say is in stock but for pre-orders, they generally send about 1 week early.

    They charge on order

Has anyone ever been caught for customs? Do they send out a parcel per DVD or a parcel per order?

I'd like to see http://www.dvdsoon.com/faq.xml#5 stand up in a Canadia court (let alone Irish)

They used to mark everything down on the customs declaration to $Cnd12 and i got loads of boxsets this way. They were warned by UK customs of this practice and now they put the correct value on the package. I believe most of their over £18 packages to the UK are subject to C&E now.

I have had 1 DVD not turn up (out of about 120) and DVD Soon replaced it after a waiting time of 45 business days

Thanks for the quick feedback guys.

So Shrek 2 is CA$25.98 -> Eur15.88 (Dunno where garred got Eur11.90). That versus SendIt's Shrek 2 at Stg£11.99 / Eur16.98 makes it less of a bargain. So add customs duty and a handling charge to that, and Send It wins that one. Shrek 2 was the only one I did the maths on, so the others may well still be bargains (even taking in the duty/handling potential).

What is the personal importation limit before customs can charge you C&E? Over here, it is £18.

SendIT has futurama 3rd and 4th season for £13.99, each. I thought its a good bargain (~€26 at DVDSoon) and orderded both.

$25 - 25% = €11.90......its with the fidelity card - 25% off (anyone ordering regular off them would be mad not to go for it, along with free shipping it gives you a 5% reduction and fidelity points which can be cashed in for gifts. the card has paid for itself in the last 2 months!).

...think thats only for the UK, think its over the €100 mark here, dhl and the rest of them don't tend to chase up VAT for under €15 as its not worth their time. Have place order over the value of €150 and never been liable for customs. They tend to not have everything shipping together anyhow.

Ah, right .. missed the fidelity card bit. So even if you do get hit for customs, unless the handling charge is high, there's still a pretty good saving. The normal discount with the card is 5%, just 25% for this sale.

So if you're a big DVD purchaser, then it seems to be a good deal .. even (sometimes) taking the customs hit into account. Live Aid, for example, is under half the price from Play/Sendit

They send each dvd ordered out in it's own envelope. I have never been done for customs and I have ordered boxed sets too.

They will bunch them together per order depending on when they have them. If you order each title separately, you will never get caught out with customs (if the €100 figure is correct).

don't quote me on that figure, DHL chased up Vat on an order from another supplier before but when they found out it was only €14 to be paid they apologised for wasting my time and wrote it off!!!....anyway back to the main point - more bargains...

    From http://www.revenue.ie/pdf/pn_1179.pdf
    GIFT CONSIGNMENTS
Subject to the restrictions mentioned below, goods of a total value not exceeding €45, which are sent as gifts by a private individual in a country outside the European Union (EU) for the personal or family use of a private individual in the State, may be imported without payment of import charges (customs duty and VAT).

Where a consignment consists of two or more items of an aggregate value exceeding €45, relief will still be given for those items the total value of which does not exceed this amount, it being understood that the value of an individual item cannot be split up.
    CONSIGNMENTS OF NEGLIGIBLE VALUE
Consignments not exceeding a total value of €22, whether commercial or otherwise, may be imported without payment of import charges. However, this relief does not apply to importations of tobacco, tobacco products, alcoholic products, perfumes or toilet waters.

So the limit is €22. Anything over that figure (with the exchange rate used by the revenue) will be subject to customs.

    dvdbargain.net top 20's for dvdsoon
    http://www.dvdbargain.net/ShowTop20.asp?tid=P8

dvdsoon is pretty much allways the cheapes r1 retailer and has free shipping that allways gets here in 5 days or faster (4 being the norm)
used for way over 100dvds over the course of last year and not a single problem. Except when you want your stuff fast - dont order. They tend to be quite slow most of the time, about a week to get stuff with some titles stuck on pending for several weeks (like my matrix utlimate collection that I preordered in late nov, came out dec 7th and still not shipped) - but then again I allways have plenty of other stuff I haven't watched yet so it's no concern for me.

with the 25% deal off (until jan 6th) they have more than usuall amount of orders so prepare to wait a bit (not a single thing shipped for me since the 18th and I have 18dvds ordered presently there)

several forums such as thedvdforums.com and dvdinside.de have long and frequently updated threads about dvdsoon's recent offers as their prices fluctuate quite a lot (both preorders and normal stuff) so it's best to be informed by a dedicated thread

edit: forgot to add - max 8 dvd's per one order (although it allows you to add more, the shoping cart stores 8 only) and even if you have 8 in one order they ship separately even if only 1 is in stock, they dont wait until whole order can be shiped together

you are right but it's only the official figure
from experience anything under 100E gets through without problems, though YMMV. no problems for me with soon and boxsets either
