The letter goes on to say, according to Xinhua, that Washington is "very sorry the entering of China's airspace and landing did not have verbal clearance".
Oh I like it ehhe.No doubt they'll(US) try to present a different story.

Though maybe there is the compromise. They entered when they had to make the emergency landing?! Will they still be able to claim the collision took place in international waters? Semantics,eh?

I agree. The Americans would not wholly back down, just bide their time. Spy plane flights may be curtailed (2 incidents close together would be awkward) but when they start again they may have fighter escorts. I think the Yanks have only just started to up the anti on this. With G8, The Olympics vote and a few sensitive UN votes on the way Amercica (for good or bad) will stick it to China.

It is too early to talk about outcomes to this mini-crises. The only thing that is sure is that China will not come out ontop. For diplomatic reasons no-one will be seen to. There will however be a looser though and thats the Chinese people in the long run.

The right wing gun totting nutters that put "Dubbya" in power want their pound of flesh.

I think China should turn the plane into a theme park, any suggestions? wink.gif

the man is short of a few brain cells.

in other news:
Trey Parker and Matt Stone's (south park brainchildren) new series is called "That's My Bush". Next week's US episode is about Bush's fraternity buddies coming over to witness an execution.

if anyone gets a video link to this please post it on boards.

thanks

saw the advert for that. wish I had spare time to watch it. smile.gif I'll vid it.

Btw, I doubt very much the spy plane would have fighter escort. It would give a very different message then if there was a spy plane up there. Considering there is still the issue of a dead Chinese pilot it would be unwise to wave a red flag at the bull.

Amercia has already stated it will not curtail spy plane flights, and were quicker about it than even I thought they would be.

I believe the planes will be escorted. The only reason why they would forsake this option would be that over international waters the Americans will be looking for the Chinese to break flying rules again so they can rub Chinas nose in it.

If the Chinese do break internatioal air-traffic rules (any time soon), An American statement (plus Video) would make the Chinese responsible for an "aggressive" act or "air piracy" in retrospect, given they still hold the plane.

And this of course would green light the US to justify sticking it to China when ever they.

U.S.S. Aircraft Carrier "Kitty Hawk" is on its way to the region to provide fighter escorts when spy flights are resumed on Thursday. I did think this was a possibility but really though the US would allow a cooling off period for both sides.

With Isreal just after killing four Syrian soldiers in a bomb raid in north Lebenon, the US upping the stakes in the east is the last thing the world needs.
