Broad Shoulders

I have been working out for the last 12 months trying to broaden my shoulders. I carry out the following excercises: Dumbell Shoulder Press, Incline & Flat Barbell Bench press & Dumbell Flies. Although these have worked to some extent I would like to see some more improvement... can anyone recommend any other excercises which may help me achieve my goal?

I have the same problem, though it's not isolated to my shoulders, and I know what the problem is: diet.

Are you eating enough to actually build up your body? If not, try eating more. Protein mainly, but don't neglect your carbs either. If you don't have the appetite to eat the amount you need, then you could try a supplement.

I find that the exercises that broaden my shoulders and back and shoulders the most are good old fasioned chin ups, although I personlly wish that they wouldn't, I end up with such a masculine body :(

Try Handstand Pushups. Excellent exercise for developing incredible upper body definition and strength, particularly the shoulders and chest.

I carry out the following excercises: Dumbell Shoulder Press, Incline & Flat Barbell Bench press & Dumbell Flies.

Well try doing front Dumbell raises too. Ask your gym intrustor to show you a few more exercises. I try to do 12+ sets per body part when I work out. Try eating properly too. Maybe start on protein shakes.

By broaden you want to literally widen your shoulders so you are looking at developing your middle deltoids as well as your whole shoulder area.

    1) Do more sets and exercises for your shoulders, mix it up a bit and keep your muscles guessing!

    2) As i said above focus on your middle deltoids. When they grow they grow out, while your waist stays the same size. Overhead presses and lateral raises are great for the middle delts.

    3) Superset on your presses and raises! or do some isometric lateral raises!

Good luck with the work out and i hope this helps!

How do you do these sound_wave?

after a standard set of raises take a heavier set of dumbells, lift them parallel to the ground and hold them there as long as you can. This helps to exhaust your delts and bring out more striations.

The guy on exrx.net is apparently known as "bad form guy" - whereas "bandana guy" (who logic apparently thought was a woman :D ) has much better form:
