Differently edited episodes to be shown in the US?

I was mucking about tonight while waiting on the WoW servers to come back up when I came accross this. In short, the series will have different music and opening credits when shown in the US.

On top of that, there were scenes in several episodes that were cut or edited by Sky. Could it be possible that all the feedback on the series to date was taken in by Moore and the series is being "tweaked" ahead of its US debut?

Ho hum, either way, BSG is back on Monday.

    Hmmm, interesting.

Sort of like having UK as a nice test audience before screening it in the US.
Would mean we get the show first, the states gets a better show and means its more likely that it will keep going...

It'll be no harm to the show if they cut the thunderbirds-style preview scenes from the opening credits. I usually just put the text up over them to avoid any spoilers. I have a feeling that the different editing could manifest quite heavily in episode 9 ;)

The new opening music sounds pretty muck. I much prefer the original.

Re: the US theme -- I've been dying to hear it to see the different, less depressing spin they'd put on it . I was expecting a totally different one, rather than a kinda remix/reworking of the one we get.

I prefer the more haunting first-half of the UK one to the US one, but the latter parts of both aren't hugely different....hardly seems worth changing! The more I listen to them, I think either works, but I would agree that the US one has *slightly* more of an upbeat feel to the opening half with the 'march', and that was the reason they changed, right?! :)

Does anyone know if they changed the logo @ the end of the credits for the US airings? I like the logo, but the miniseries had a nice logo in the standard BSG font..

As soon as the HDTV rips go up, I'll tell you. :D

Although as I understand it, only Sci-Fi itself aired the new credits. All showings on other networks used the original version.
