New Laptop-Slow Booting After installing software(Nero,FF,WinRAR)

I just bought a new laptop over xmas (Acer Ferrari 3400) and it was smashing, took about 5 seconds to get into the windows logon screen.
    Then I installed 2 games:
    Medal of Honour Pacific Assault.
    Quake 3.
Then I put 3GB of mp3's onto the hard drive(D:)
And 5 AVI films of about 1000MB each onto D:.
Still, the laptop took about 15 secs to boot.
    Then I installed:
    Nero burning rom 6.3
    WinRAR 3.42 demo
    Firefox 1.0.

Now when I boot up my computer it takes about 45-50 to get to the same windows logon screen.
I have just uninstalled Nero, WinRAR and Firefox and still it takes the same(long) time to get past the BIOS(POST) screen. I haven't made any changes to the BIOS either.

The hard drive came split up into 2 35GB partitions and a 10gb hidden restore partition i think.
I'm using winXP pro with sp2.

    The laptop is new, specs:
    AMD 64 2.8ghz
    512mb RAM
    80 gb HD.
    128mb ATI Radeon 9700
    etc etc.

Should i try defragment the drive? Or any other solutions?

    get this program.

    http://ww.webattack.com/get/autostartmgr.shtml

it lists the programs that open at startup. uncheck all. if you uncheck one and then close the program and open it again to find it checked again its probably spyware. restart in safe mode and delete the file.

before deletnig it make sure it has nothing to do with any of your programs. if its in the system32 folder it can probably be deleted because nothing that comes with windows does that. dont blame me if your computer explodes please
    :D

Go into run and type in msconfig

goto startup tab and take away all the ticks beside programs you don't need running in the background all the time, this will save your battery life too slightly ;)

Above program probably does same actually

well it's not a windows situation i think. It seems to be just my BIOS taking longer to do whatever it does. It's def. not ad/spyware/virii cos i havent even been online with it yet
