Lovely!! It seems to be much more expensive elsewhere though - is there a catch? And is it a decent hard drive?

The WD one is only E104, so I doubt there's anything wrong with the MAXTOR one, other then it's being offered a little cheaper :)

and it being a maxtor drive. :D

personally, I'd pay the extra few quid to go with the WD.

I've only ever had two (of my own) drives go on me, and both were Maxtor. personal experience says it all for me, and I've heard plenty of others here saying similar on other threads in the past.

I've had 3 maxtors go, but that may be because they're the only ones I bought.

I've also got 3 maxtor working perfectly, along with an IBM and a SEAGATE :)

5 maxtors here, all over a year old and many used 24/7 - all going strong (knock on wood)
no brand is more reliable than other - this faq past on Sr summs it up best : http://faq.storagereview.com/tiki-index.php?page=BrandMostReliable
personal experience with people tells me it's handling and ****ty powersupplies that couse most damage IMHO

You can have a look into their reliability survey (think you need register though) - but they do not cover the diamond max plus 10 series yet as it's too new.
that said, never heard recently anything saying the series would be less reliable or otherwise - it's one of these rumours and heard from a friend his drive failed etc type of things that give manufacturer X a bad name sometimes (unjustified)

btw, the 95E price is neat deal, sadly it's not the 300G/16M version that is on offer :( that would be much better

Your spot on there. I ordered a hard drive from them earlier in the year, and I had a nightmare with that shower of ****ers. Thats all i could describe them as. 10 days after it was despatched from komplett.ie I eventually got it

I think I'd pay the extra for this one.

    Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 200GB IDE ATA/100 8MB cache 7200RPM
    Your price: €107.00 http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=123995&cks=SPK

What's the difference? And is that NCQ (native command queueing) on the Maxtor just a blurb, or something useful?

For me, I just have found seagates reliable and quieter than other drives. For me thats worth the extra. Regardless of the stats I'd prefer to go with the brand I have the best experience with in the past.
