Weird problem installing a game

I was installing Commandos 2: Behind Enemy Lines. The game comes on 3discs and i have 2 drives on my PC so while d1 was installing from drive E i put d2 into drive F and just clicked Drive F when the instalsheild looked for the second disc
then i put d3 into dirve E and did the same again. It installed succesfuly but when i tired to paly it always looked for the disc in the drive it wasn't in, ie if i put the disc in drive E it would look in dirve F and when i moved it to drive F it looked in drive E. So i uninstalled the program, but none of the files went from the C: drive so i deleted them manually. Now it won't install, reinstall or uninstall.
From my basic understanding of how a PC works i'm assuming this is because it's still in the registry or the registry entry is damaged but i don't know how to fix this. Can anyone help?

some games save their congig info in a file in the game directory eg config.ini or settings.ini or something similer, have a look for this file, there might be a line for target drive, see what its set to, and change of nessissary.

worst case copy the save game info, reinstalll the game from one drive and paste back in the save game info!

Might not be the same problem I had but you could try this:

I had a problem getting BF:Vietnam to load properly. No matter which disc I put in which drive it told me to insert disc whatever. Problem was the copy protection on the game. I had to uninstall any programs with virtual drives, i.e. CloneCD, Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Nero. Then install and play the game once, before I was able to reinstall my other apps.
