Is there anywhere to bring old computers to in Dublin where they might be put to some use?

Recycle it? Alternatively, write up the specs and offer it to a charity, depending on how much you're getting rid of i.e. is it just the box, or is the monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc included?

Local schools might take them off your hands as well.

Well, it won't startup anymore so it would prob only be good for parts. Its got a 40gm hdd(the problem perhaps) a cdrw and dvd drive. Not really worth anything but seems a shame to throw out. I don't think a school would want it.

doodle_sketch, does that recyle place just destroy the computers safely, or actually reuse the parts?

I've got so much crap lying around my house.... bout 5 cd drives 2 cd writers, a dvd drive, 4 sound cards, motherboard, P500, ram, video cards..... about 50 IDE cables. I can't bring myself to throw them out, but not a full system, so it's pretty useless. Oh I have 2 keyboards and 2 monitors too.

You should post them up on the boards for sale. You'd be amazed at the worthless crap we'll (I'll) use. Looking to upgrade a PII 350 at the moment. :D
