  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,592 ✭✭✭Ro: maaan!

    To cheer me back up...

Stiff Little Fingers - Silver Lining

To bask in the sadness... There are too many.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,977 ✭✭✭mp3guy

exactly... I never go for the cheering up, basking in sadness is much more fun, eventhough that gets all the sadness out..

Joe Satriani- Chords Of Life is a good one.Makes me feel like jumping around regardless of how down I am.

A lot of Motorhead has the same effect. Particularly Bomber, Ace Of Spades, and the song they did with Girlschool (I think) called Please Don't Touch.

Hayseed Dixie are good for a laugh, and so are good for cheering you up.

Anything by Queen, Innuendo cheers me up always.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,644 ✭✭✭✭nesf

Generally something by Pantera if I want to get over it by anger, something bluesy like Eric Clapton if i want to feel down, Radiohead if I'm looking to hit an all time low moodwise, or Barenaked Ladies or something equally happy and bouncy if I'm trying to cheer myself up.

Generally tho I listen to depressing/angry music when I'm down. Not sure why. I think it calms me

Nick Cave. Not because it's uplifting but because his lyrics make you feel that although you're feeling down, you're not as far gone as him

you really like that song? I thought it was one of Bush's weaker one's. Rather Everything Zen or Machinehead

Don't get me wrong i like their other stuff too but that song really hits the nail on the head when i'm feeling down.

It's probably cuz i was listening to it during a "tough time in my life"

Cause and effect dude. Are you sure that it didn't actually CAUSE this tough time? Gavin Rossdales voice can have unusual effects on people. I can still remember when I heard Everything Zen for the first time back in 1996 in Carlow when I was at college. Goosebumps or what!!!!!!

Billy Joel - Uptown girl !
    Class song.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,785 ✭✭✭Farls

haha, i hear ya man :)

When i think back it is quite possibly that song that kept me in that sort of mood. it didn't get me there tho!

When you think about it though every decent song has some sort of effect on your mood. And depending what mood your in before you hear that song defines what mood it will put you in future most of the time

Pantera seems a popular one, and yeah, Rise, Fcuking Hostile, Shattered, Heresy, and the ultimate one... Cowboys From Hell. True happy angriness.

Listening to the odd bit of Type O Negative does the trick too. It suits your mood, yet isn't serious enough to keep you feeling that way.

Currently am listening to Finntroll - Trollhammaron. True classic.
