Where is good to start asking for a step up on the ladder of live giggin'? Just have our band formed now and want to do some covers to get our rhythm and sound right. Any ideas?

Alot of local bands just get together and organize their own gigs i.e. rent the venue out themselves and organize promotion. Just find some of the bands in the area and see if yiz can organize something.

The international bar used to be a good place to start... not sure what it's like now but give them a call and see what they say.

Gigsmart might be good but it seems to depend on the type of music you play. I've never know them to put on a gig that wasn't heavy rock or rock of some kind..... with the exception of some singer/songwriter types they don't really branch out. Also they are know for being slightly clique-ie so unless your in with someone you might find it hard.
Saying all that, if you do get in with them they seem to do all they can for you....
