They should get an Irish act.
Messiah J played at Xzibit in the Ambassador a couple of years back.

If there coming over here and charging 50€, the least they could do is show a bit of love for the local scene.

    Rob Kelly probably so.

for gods sake if the tickets cost 50 quid i know id be pissed off with some irish idiot, your man Messiah J if thats who it was at xzibit was booed as he should have been (overall xzibit gig was great). 50 cent had the right idea when he brought fabolous over it was a great little added extra. Your paying through the nose for these tickets if you want to go see local "rappers" you can go to temple bar and see them busking for free id much rather see an act that i and the rest of the crowd would like to see even if it is only someone small at least it wont be only the lovers or irish rap who know who he is, all 5 of ya.

i liked when eminem took obie trice cypress hill d12 and xzibit over with him, well if we are payin 50 euro they better give us at least 3 huge artists from usa and not crappy irish rappers compared to usa ones, usa rappers are 100 times better than irish ones.

    You went to 50 Cent?
    That explains a lot.

The least Snoop could do is put on Collie, or Rob Kelly or someone on for a couple of minutes and then put on his own opening act.

yes i went to 50 cent and guess what i even have alll his albums and i even listened to him on mix tapes before he was signed to shady and I even enjoyed the 50 cent gig, oh my god why did I do that with all the amazing and oh so talanted irish rappers out there its just a shame that they get boo'd off stage every time im unfortunate enough to have them stuffed down my throut. A hint of sarcasim is implied there just incase you missed it.

its great for the irish scene to be letting irish mc's open for these big gigs. But it's negitive fools like kristok that are holding it back.

    50 is a joke.
Ferrari Black murdered him in a battle, and he is one of the biggest jokes in the NY rap scean, ffs he writes for ja rule.
50 sounds like a chipmuck with a cock in its mouth.

You're right, it is great for the irish scene but I think if your going to spend 50 euro on a ticket, you'd want another big name act to preform too. As Cannibal Ox suggested I think they should have an irish act just before another big name rapper and then snoop.

ferrari black ?!? what song is that cause the only song i know that came back at 50 in any way was 40 bars at 50 by Caddillac Tah I dont remember black child making anything good (personally I like murder inc they make good party music)

it doesn't make me anything i just support the homegrown talent, and think it should be getting props by more irish people. like check out ri-ra/scary eire, mj & ex, etc...

People can have their opinions about 50 , but man Snoop fell off years ago. Living off 1 classic album he made a lifetime ago. His albums been getting worse and worse , so bad he gotta do songs with Justin Timberlake to cause a stir. Get Rich or Die Trying was better than any thing Snoops put out in 10 years. Im sure he can still put on a good show but man hope he dont play any stuff from Rhythm and Gangsta , maybe Timberlake might be the opening act. lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

At this stage, Snoop would more likely be the act to open for Justin Timberlake.

Get Rich is good driving music etc but it's not the stuff I'd sit down and actually "vibe" to by any means. I'm absolutely sick **** of that monotonous "gangsta" rubbish that has been spewing out for the past few years. "Crack" this and "bitches" that, the only crack I know is the type to be had after 10 pints in the pub and the only bitch scence I've encountered is that of my grandfather's greyhounds. I can't relate to that crap, not in any broad sense at all.

It's simply the preaching of negative self-destruction of black/deprived working class communities alike. I wouldn't bother giving them money anymore to be honest, if someone released a record here about how they were great because they sold smack to children in Ballyfermot would people here buy and enjoy it?

I'd hope the answer would be no, there is a clear difference between "telling it like it is" and glorifying drug-dealing and unfortunately the likes of 50 Cent and Twista ("if I ain't selling them weapons I'm moving them packs") etc are sending young people the message that it's right to tear apart families with guns and drugs simply to "get paid". Hip Hop should be progressive, not orientated with confining people to a mire of drug addiction and violence.

That's why the majority on this board think outside the box and listen to, to coin a phrase, underground hip-hop. Although it's not all that underground, it's just not spread all over MTV and backed by massive record labels, and so they are free to write what they want and release what they want. This results in us, the listeners/fans, getting far more out of the music.

There's loads out there, just look for it. In fact look through some of the threads on this board to get an idea of some of the artists. One of the recent threads, can't remember which one, I think it was the one about Irish accents, anyway, Klimseven listed a slew of artists. Have a look at it, most hip-hop fans should recognise some if not all the artists listed, if you don't go check some of their music out. It wont hurt, and you may discover what most of us here already have, that there is a lot more to hip-hop than what MTV show us.

FTA this post isn't directed at you, it's just a general comment being thrown out there. Once again another thread has flown off topic, and turned into an arguement. Not that I'm complaining, it just makes for more interesting reading.

I agree 100% a chara, and I no longer even bother with that type of stuff anymore. I listen to as much underground stuff as I can get but I also listen to much of the old stuff as well, like KRS One etc.

Yeah defo snoop has really been getting worse, i liked pimp slap from his last album heard it on a clue mix tape and thought it was going to be a great album but turned out terrible ive not even listened to his new one. Seems to be depending on pharell too much for hits and its sounding real generic.

50's album was good not excellent, I like him cause of his earlier stuff like gun runner they didnt glorify as much as tell a good story nowadays hes just gone a bit comercial and its watering down his earlier greatness. Most of his mix tape stuff nowadays is terrible, hopefully the rumours that he scrapped his new album half way through cause he thought it was rubbish are true and he is trying to make good music again.

I agree with makaveli the arguments are giving this board a bit of life its been needing.
