Serial to USB?

    I know you can go from USB to Serial - is the reverse possible? I wouldn't have thought so, but need a definitive answer, and Googling it isn't helping.
    The situation is someone with an older laptop with no USB ports wants to connect to his Blackberry via USB. The laptop (running Win 98) has a single serial port available. Options?
