SATA driverse on floppy...when?

    Hi,

    Another question on my latest build.

    At no point in the assembly, install of OS etc, did I require the SATA drviers for the HDD which came on a floppy disk with my motherboard?

    The system is up and running fine. Do I still need to install these, and how/where?

    When should they be used?

    depends if you used the sata ports or not AND some motherboards will see sata as just a standard IDE port, so standard ide drivers can be used. nforce and intel boards do this.

    If in raid mode, nvidia boards need sata drivers to be installed.

    What make is the board ? What chipset ?

    Once you have found that out, go to the relevent website and download the latest driver and install it, should be picked up/upgrade older drivers automagically.

    If you installed XP, XP may have installed the drivers for it.

    Nice one. Getting a Sata drive soon and it's good to hear I don't need to hook up a floppy drive on my nvidia board :D
