Yep, in a classic Not In My Back Yard move, the gentle folk of D4 have had the centre closed.

What irritates me most about this story, is that the resident's committee insist that they objected to the centre 'because the proper planning permission had not been granted'. Eh yeah right.

If the chairman had any balls and said 'we don't want poor people and **** hanging around Ballsbridge' at least he would have been being honest. Couldn't do it, obviously.

I believe proper planning permission wasn't sought actually.

And I don't think the chairman making a comment like that would have been ballsy as much as purely offensive.

err i don't think it would be ballsy either, it's more the deceitful aspect of their (the resident's committee) statements that I am getting at..

ahh, the greeks steal your shoes.
one time i was in the front pew in lourdes when a greasy italian (pronounced Aye-Tali-Yan) put her slimy little fist into the small of my back. Well, I turned around and sprinkled the holy water of the chaste Irish saint of Brigid on her, and poosh!, like a flash, she was gone. Ahh, she was a gypsy, I'll tell you that much, back in Dev's time we took care of the gypsies the way we....

    ... and so on. smile.gif

It is so lonely here in my indecipherable tower of speech impedimency

    Oi, I'm not that old.

I agree with Castor Troy tho... smacks of hyposcrisy. I guess its ok to locate them in north central dublin where I lived (and still do I even though I've moved).

Personally I was never very concerned about the immigrants. Its the native Irish I always kept an eye on...

    DeV.
