I posted recently about a laptop I wanted so I could do the usual basics as well as use it for photoshop and quark.

I've been offered a second hand model now for €650 which I think should do the job, but I thought I'd run it by you all first as there may be something I'm missing.

It's a HP nx9010, has a 40gb hard drive, Pentium 4 processor (it says 2.66, but has 1.59 below it when I go into properties on my computer). It has 448 MB or RAM. Otherwise theres a cd-rw/dvd rom combo, a floppy drive and it has a fair whack of programmes with it (the OS is XP professional by the way).
I'm not sure what the battery life is like but I read somewhere it's 2 hours or something, not sure if thats true and if it is I'm not sure if thats good or bad.
The machine itself is in perfect condition and has all the usual bits and bobs with it, like a bag and charger etc.

From what I can gather it's worthwhile, but I may be missing something, and I may be paying too much... any help?

    thanks,
    Adam

Seems reasonable enough to me... But that doesn't mean don't haggle :D

It seems like a very Decent spec(for a laptop). If a get it for 650 then its a bargin.

From what I read here the battery life is quite good, at close to three hours. It's supposed to be a heavy beggar though, with rubbish graphics architecture, though you didn't say you wanted to do any gaming or 3d modelling on it, so it's probably not an issue.
Bit odd about the processor speed, though.

You sure the laptop is plugged in when you're checking the processor speed ?
(with speedstep, the processor switches to a lower clock speed when on battery power to save the juice)
