dumb question

    i have downloaded wine the rpm and installed it. typed in wine regedit and got a regedit screen up.

    now how do i make anything else work tryed going into my windows partition(ntfs) and typing in wine putty.exe but it hangs.

    Not everyhting will work with Wine. There should be a list of Wine-enabled programs around here somewhere.

    i presume wine notepad.exe works.

    why do you need putty to work if you're on linux? can't you just use ssh from the command line?

    wine can be a it dodgy. maybe try an older version if you can find one

    i don't need putty to work it is just trying to get wine to work wine notepad.exe just hangs and doesn't work

    Have you set wine up to use your existing Windows install, or do you have a fake_windows installation? Have you tried copying notepad.exe to somewhere in your root filesystem, and running it from there?

    yes no no :)

    will try that put tryed copying putty into a fat32 partition that works in both but still no go

    eh Linux doesn't like NTFS :cool:

    Whatever your trying to run (why in gods name would u want to run putty ?) copy it over to your ~/.wine/fake_windows_dir first.

    everyone seems hung up about the putty issue :) it was just a test program as it was said to work without hassle in wine. i ain't plainng on using it dont worry
    Linux doesn't like NTFS
    ya i know but what can you do i have the support loaded into the kernal.
