Have you even tried listening to it? Have you ever been to a concert? What do you hate about it? And have you ever tried comparing it to your fav type of music?

This is a pretty boring topic, and rather useless.

I'll bet you yourself have never tried to sit down and listen to country music... And I mean REALLY listen to it. Now have you?

I'm all for metal! But this is just elitism.

Can't we just say Metal is Metal and stop dividing it into so many sections, I mean it'll end up with a different definition for every band the way its been going.
Sabbath are still the kings of it all as far as I care.

They had that album called Black Metal but I wouldn't say theyre black metal though.

Well then, can't we just say music is music? And stop dividing it up into genres?
Or even, can't we just say stuff is stuff?
    biggrin.gif

I really think people take genre's WAY too seriously!!!
I mean, they are just VERY rough descriptions in themselves, aren't they?
They don't exactly make a band what they are, do they?

  • Moderators, Regional North East Moderators Posts: 12,739 Mod ✭✭✭✭cournioni

Good choices. But I cant help but notice that you left out Megadeth... possibly the greatest thrash metal band of all time.

    Marilyn Manson

12 year olds have latched onto the idea that its cool to like him, he is Popular Metal

Even though I was their captive, the Indians allowed me quite a bit of freedom. I could walk freely, make my own meals, and even hurl large rocks at their heads. It was only later that I discovered that they were not Indians at all but only dirty-clothes hampers.

LOL! "Neo-classical Metal" ehhehehe. I have never heard of that but please let it be in the ID3 tag lists......

That said someone mentioned Deep Purple but they are definitely rock, not metal. Rock is metal that sounds good.

Couldnt agree more red moose. rock is metal that sounds good smile.gif
Before anyone jumps down me throat, i used to listen to a lot of metal. Ive seen metallica 3 times in Ireland, megadeth, slayer and a ****load of others in venues like the Top Hat and the Olympic ballroom.

Then i grew up and realised that its all ****e compared to other music out there. I used to think they were the most talented musicians in the world, then i realised that technical ability is no substitute for genuine musical talent.

The pigeonholing and labelling existed back then too, and i thought it was stupid then as well as now.

I used to listen to alot of heavy metal/speed metal, slayer, sepultura, megadeth, metallica and more. It's all a bunch of shíte now though, and I also saw metallica live, they were fúckin brilliant, but they're crap now. People like Marilyn Manson shuld be shot and if I ever meet the fúcker and I happen to be drunk (which is quite likely) I'll give him a good beating.
