My graphics card is a Nvidia 5900 XT, monitor is the Geicom 19" monitor that Aldi were selling a while back.

I was moving my computer desk tonight, so I had to unwire pretty much everything. I wire it all back up. The laptop, PC and internet all work okay. However, the monitor keeps flicking on and off while booting (into Linux or XP, so its not a PC problem) until it eventually switches itself off after a few seconds. I've checked and double checked all of my connections, and everything there is as it should be.

If I turn the monitor off and on, the picture comes up fine for a few seconds and then it goes again.

Anyone have any idea about what might be responsible?

EDIT: Its the monitor. I plugged it into the laptop and had the same problem. I take it I'm SOL and need to get a replacment?

look at monitor connector, make sure all pins are straight,u may have bent or broken a pin when u unplugged or put in connector upside down, it happened to me 1 time, if so just very carefully straighten pin,BE VERY CAREFUL ,pins are easy to break but they can be straightened, thats the only thing i can think of,try go to bios its possible u may have onboard video disabled by accident even in pc and laptop.i got no display on my pc, fixed it by puting in old pci grafix card, went into bios turned on agp to enable signal from my agp card, check both bios re isit in onbord vga mode or agp or what.pc may have switched back to onbord video when u disconnected it or gone to default bios settings.external vga in laptop may be switched off.in bios.

dont assume ur monitor is faulty try replacing grafix card enable in bios.even an old pci card will do. possible pc may have reset to bios defaults etc,or u may have changed bios settings by accident.its easy to put in connector upside down,if ur not careful.

You may have been on the mark about the pins-I checked the connector and found one missing, there's only 14 in it.
