I have a sat reciever and a few other bits n bobs I need to send to a friend in the UK. I am in Galway and need some recomendations on courier firms who are reliable and cheap? I have given up with using SDS now after to many problems and bad service. I think my total parcel weight is around 10kg. I know its a strange question but I am looking for help!

    You could try

    ups
    fedex
    Dhl

don't know what the cost would be though.

Tried DHL but they were very expensive. €98+VAT + Fuel surcharge!

If it was me, I'd just send it as registered airmail post or maybe insured post if it's valuable. In the past, I've had a fair amount of satellite stuff brought in from the UK, US, even Brazil and items were invariably in better condition delivered by post than by couriers.

You could try Fastrack. I have used them on many occasions to send parcels to the uk. Its a 2 day service and it costs about €30 for 10kg. All you need do is go to you local train station and hand it in there at the fastrack counter. The parcel will then be delivered to the door of the person its being sent to.

Get a lot of gear from Amsterdam, UPS/TNT no problem. So long as there are well wrapped.

    SDS insured. Cheapest option.
