Sorry mate, you are mistaken. On the CD it says written by Guy Chambers but if you remember back when it came out, there was a lot of controvesy over the fact that a Dublin guy wrote it. Look it up, it's Raymond Heffernan!

so why did robbie auction off the piece of paper with the lyrics that he had written on it?

Yeah, I heard that Robbie didn't actually write the song himself it was an Irish guy that wrote it. I also heard a very interesting story as to what the song's actually about.

    B.

    Very simple:

Although Robbie has since proven himself to be quite a showman and seems to know exactly what strings to pull, (i.e. deserving at least some of his success), back in the early days, he was quite desperate to get a hit.

To build your career on someone else's song is one thing. To deny them the credit afterwards is shameful. Auctioning off the piece of paper is a stunt to confound the lie. Seems to have worked nicely. :( Most objective link I could find: http://news.scotsman.com/topics.cfm?tid=910&id=688412003

Anyway, this doesn't help Mr. Heffernan any. Hope the EP launch is a success and through his songwriting gets some of the recognition for himself that he clearly deserves. Hope he rocks. (Someone needs to jump into the limelight and push a certain Mr. McFadden out of it......)

Jazzman, sorry I can't be there myself.
