can someone guestimate the following daily meals calorie count:

1 bowl of bran cereals (80g) + milk
2 scoups of mash potato+veggies (carrots or broccoli) + 1 chicken leg (normal size)
1 sandwich: 2 hi-fibre brown bread slices + 2 slices of ceddar cheese + butter (not a lot)
    1 sandwich: 2 hi-fibre brown bread slices + chicken pieces(30g?) + grated ceddar cheese
75g of cereals (nestle 8-pack type, all kinds) + milk
1 sandwich: 2 slices brown bread toasted (does it make a difference?) + 3 slices smoked cheese + 40g chicken breast

    Yes, I like chicken :o

I recently replaced the morning scone+butter+jam with the bran flakes.

how does it look, is it healthy enough, or should I change/reduce/increase something? Too much bread maybe?

you could probably do better than those cereals

weetabix or some other type of roughage
sets you up for the day :)

Must look at a side-by side comparison of bran cereals and weetabix, bran seemed ok, what's weetabix got more/less of the good/bad stuff?

    Thanks for the tip.

well compared to those variety packs weetabix has less sugar & salt
basically its just filler that you can eat to get your digestion system working in the mornings without putting crap like frosties into your system.
I've compared weetabix to the "own-brand" wheat cereals and weetabix is much better, less sugar for a start.
Maybe Im on the wrong track, what do you mean by "nestle 8-pack type"?
Lemme know what you find out.

I thought you wanted me to replace the all-bran kellogs that I have in the morning with weetabix, not the nestle 8-pack (this basically contains 8 small packs, 25-40g 'samples' of much of their range of flakes, these are not very healthy, I know, the sugar content alone is quite large. At the moment [it changes in time], the 8-pack has cheerios, cocoa shreddies, 'fitness', chip cookies, golden nuggets... and some others). I usually have them in the evenings and weekends. I could probably give these up at least for a while in favor of weetabix.

I compared the all-bran and weetabix, the latter seem to have more vitamins (85% RDA compared to 65% for all-bran), and it's made of 'whole wheat', as opposed to 'wheat bran' for the all-bran, whatever the difference may be. Oh yes, weetabix has a higher carbs, but lower sugars. All in all, I don't think there's much of a difference between these two, I may use both in the mornings.

weetabix has a very high GI, something that I hadn't expected. Much better off with porridge.
