Xbox Live renewal

    Don't know is it really a Bargin or should I post this in Game forum.

    My Xbox Live 12 months subscription was due to renew next week. Got the email from Microsoft about the renewal will be done automatically but instead of doing this and pay €59.99 online, I went to Game shop and bought the new Starter Kit. It cost exactly the same except I get another new Communicator and three demos with it (RS 3, Outrun 2 and Fifa 2005). The Communicator cost €30 on its own so it turns out the 12 months renewal would only be €30 (if you count it that way). Plus you can get €15 off any new Live game if bought with the Starter Kit (even though we all know they are at rip off price compare to play.com :rolleyes:)

    So just to let any Live players know when you need to renew your account if this helps.

    Don't you have to set up a new account i.e. pick a new gamertag if you buy the starter kit?

    If you were playing HALO 2 it's possible your stats would be reset.
    Or do you just need to log in to your current a/c with a new sub number?

    I was thinking the same at the start and ask the staff about it in Game and they don't have a clue about it as usual. So I checked on the web instead and it does says you can use the code to extend the subcription period (well I know it didn't really says on the website but definately does on the code card itself) so I bought it yesterday and used the code and have no problem with it.

    Na, my Halo 2 stats still there. Just go to "Accouont Management" and choose "Subcription" and put your new code in and it'll show your next Annual subcription is already paid.

    I presume you could use the 2 month live sub you get with Halo 2 in the same way.

    If you are talking about the 2 months free trial that comes with the game no you can't use it to extend your subcription. It's only for opening a new account.

    Bugger. Looks like I'll be using it for a second gamertag with less sucky HALO stats!
