Turner Prize winner

    To be honest, I know nothing about the guy who won, but what does anyone think of his stuff?

    Weird that this year, the Turner Prize got the most press coverage it ever has, but no one seems to know too much about what the winner is on about.

    Well I'm almost in the same boat. I only know as much as has been written up about the guy in the press and general art lit surrounding the prize. He seems a welcome up-beat kind of artist as a change from a lot of the po-faced, cynical kind of pieces we've seen in the last while (chapman bros, Tracy Emin etc.. although I d like some of that work)... Which I guess is in keeping with last year's winner now I think about it. (Maybe the prize is laying out a manifesto!!)
    I know he organised a non-political parade in San Sebastian for the blind and handicapped, re-enacted the miner's strike riots with the help of the miners who took part and filmed an amazing 8 minutes of bats flying as part of some documentary about Texas.
    I'm still surprised they ignored what are some absolutely excellent painters working around now. I'm no stuckist or anything but work by people like Wilhelm Sasnal and Angela de la Cruz really impresses me... clearly not them!!
