Beef Or Salmon on Sunday: What do you folks think?.he didn't look too buisy on Sunday should put him dead right for Christmas we shall see.

Moscow Flyer IS the man and THE top jumper out there.......Best Mate?..a wuss only beat Seebald a 2 miler who barely gets 2/4 by short head over a 2/7 trip?..do me a favour the sooner a decent horse comes out and floors that Phony the better for racing.

Kicking King was good on sunday will be interesting to see how he goes in the King George..hope Moscow Wins that and then the 2 mile Champion again he deserves it!

See ol' Weaver George won the other day was watching it, it was really funny to see this ol' timer at 14 years of age out sprint yes I said sprint! some of his rivals to win great fun.

Roostser Booster is the lay of the weekend on Saturday great ol' campainer but I think Iglish Dreaver will win that.

Hardy Eustace: hope he comes out soon I cant see anything beating him if he's in good nick at Cheltenham this year hope he gest there well and 100% fit as he is different class in my book , Me thinks the folks in the UK greatly under-estimate just how good he really is...I don't!

Well thats my rapp lay of the wek Rooster Booster on sayturday get on the exchanges,,,

    ciao' amigos Baggio.....

I would agree with, most of that, but you have to concede that it was only Best Mate's first run since march, were as it was Seebald's second run in 15 days, plus he was only 5 lengths behind a very impressive Azertyuiop. The real Best Mate is still to come, i reckon his reign is over but he hasnt run 100% of his ability so far this season.

I See yer point but don't forget...Atzerti was giving seebald almost a stone and a half, and Best mate is 3 miles and upwards, seebald has always been a 2 miler but sometimes gets 2 and a half, and everyone keeps forgetting , that that race was just barely under 3 miles...for a horse who biddlecomb keeps claiming is way ahead of the rest...
I think Best Mate was poor that day and as regards his "reighn",,well a 3 day a year horse can hardly be called a champion, for me the whole think just has no substance at all. He for me is one soft horse and all the hype is not justified,,,, to win 3 Gold Cups is a very good achievement, but when you hardly race anywhere else and get there fit and well each year...well then that takes away the merrit in a major way.
And more to the point,,,each one he won,,,the form hasn't been franked in any way..his first one ahead of Commanche Court a decent gutsy horse,,but never a real Gold Cup horse, See More Business at 12 no where near what He was.
The second gold cup Truckers Tavern and Harbour Pilot??..neither have won anything since...and last year a half length over Sir Rhembrant?..well again he has won nothing since,,although i DO think he is decent just a little frustrating.
I can think of at least 3 horses in the 90's that Id rate above Best Mate,,,just that bad luck, injury etc stopped them doing the same thing Jodami, Imperail Call and The Fellow...for me those 3 were ahead of this lad,,,each beat veryy good horses and did it throught their seasons too..after all only for jockey error - The Fellow had 3 gold cups in the bag! Imperial Call's win was spectacular and Rough Quest who he beat easily absolutly crusied to win the national 3 weeks later oustanding form . Jodami a phenomenal figure too .
Theres nothing around at the moment its such a pity,,the french horse (jeu do cochet) last year proved Best Mate was a softy and way overrated he thumped him 10 lengths in huntingdon , we got the ground excuses after the race,,but that morning they ( biddlecomb and co ) were so confident they told the racing post there would be NO excuses...yep he's a phony champ no doubt.

    ahh well ciao' Baggio....

Ah jodami now that was a classy horse indeed. I think the race suited seebald, it wasnt too fast pace race until the last two fences then it speeded up, so he lasted longer from the slower pace. We will see how best mate is fixed at christmas wherever he runs.

great controversial thread, heres my tuppence worth

lads i honestly think that best mate is the champion chaser at the moment, he's the best 3m + chaser between ireland and england at the moment, jair du cochet was a fine horse but beat him once and then was killed, jair du cochet was a psycho horse who couldn't get a vets cert so he could be sold, so he was never going to be consistent

if you had the horse and you must remember the trainer has the final say in when he runs, and we all know that henrietta knight wont run her horses if it's going to sour em, you wouldnt want him to run twice a year if it meant the best shot at the gold cup regardless of what anyone says

timmy murphy knows that, he said he could have beat seebald easy by a few more lengths if he'd hit best mate, but the horse didnt need that to win

unlike a lot of top chasers when they make their seasonal reappearance and this is important for us punters, you know that best mate is out to win,
you wont hear 'he needed that run and he'll strip better for it next time' which is a fat lot of good for us after the race - thats no good to the punters who lumped on beef or salmon at evens (he had an interrupted praparation)how much will you have to pay to recoup your losses at 1/5 or 1/4 this weekend, his jumping is muck and he only makes up the ground between fences, he shouldnt have run at the weekend, (i still backed kicking king though :D with my moscow flyer money :D:D:D )
champion horses are got ready to win at home before they get to the racecourse, every trainer has access to fences and hurdles in their locality, i hate when they make excuses about needing to get a run in, and they are 'surprised' when a horse skates in after two years on the sidelines

still not sure how good rooster booster is this year, he's my gut selection in my best ten to follow team and if he wins the bula we should be leading the competition on monday, he has carried 12 stone well for years now, hope he wins but wont have any bet

best mate the horse is only a percentage of the champion as with any horse you also need a great trainer and jockey (though he's won with a few great jockeys on board)

bet for the weekend has to be solerina
i wouldnt be surprised if our vic didnt make the tripleprint and celestial gold does the business again
