Any idea why gmail refuses to load on FF portable on a USB stick (all other sites work fine with the proxy details correct) and on the same PC, IE can open gmail fine.

    Argh!

That's odd, I've been using firefox on a zip disc and I've never had any trouble at all... I can't see why a USB would be any different

No there's actually something damn weird here. It worked before for gmail.

Now I'm at home on the same connection with regular FF and gmail, vodafone and hotmail don't load whilst everything else does. Even gmail notifier (FF version) doesn't login. All this is a new problem.

I'm on UCD - anyone else having this problem?

Just today my Firefox went a bit tits up in DCU. I had to go into connection settings and set the proxy and port manually for each of http, ftp etc. to get gmail to load.Could it be that?

    [edit]
I'm not suing portable firefox, this was on the lab machine.

Dunno but it's still not working on either my laptop or portable machine, except with IE. Not exactly reassuring I tells ya. Vodafone, AIB 24hr, Gmail, Hotmail. That's it. Everything else, including brand new sites (e.g. Wall Street Journal article) loads not a bother.

    :(

If you havent seen stark's thread in this forum, try typing about:config into the address bar. Modify general.useragent.vendor from Firefox to IE and try accessing those sites.

I install Firefox on all the machines I use in UCD and run it off there. I never have any trouble with GMail. Try running it off the harddisk and see if that makes a difference.

What do you mean by '"doesn't work"? What exactly happens?
