I know its not the best cover version but i prefered it to the original but Weird Al Yankovick's cover of smells like teen spirit is a killer.

The two best cover versions ever are Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower and Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah.

When the cover surpases the original it's just pure coolness.

PS - Smells like Teen Spirit was in itself a cover version of More than a Feeling. Muuwwwahahhahahaaa!

Worst ever: Elvis' Suspicious Minds by Fine Young Cannibals (shudder)

My Favourite: Dexy's Midnight Runners 'Come on Eileen' by Reel Big Fish.

Me First And The Gimme Gimmies have a cover of "Brown Eyed Girl" which is mighty damn good.

Also, I liked Skid Rows version of 'Little Wing'.

Buckley's version of Hallelujah has to be the best ever tho.

    Yes... truly a fantastic rendition.

So... does Guns'N'Roses version of Knockin' on Heaven's door get a look-in on such a list or am I just being silly? wink.gif

My 2 favourites would probably be Ugly Kid Joe playing Cats in the Cradle, and Stevie Ray Vayghans version of Little Wing.
Also, if you can get your hands on any of Adrian Byron Burns Albums, some of the best jazz/blues style covers of loads of stuff from the beatles and Jimi Hendrix etc. I have ever heard.

I love Jeff Buckley more than anyone I know but I wouldn't say his version was better than the original at all. Its good but its not THAT good.

Especially the live version from the Bataclan
I think it was the Batclan where he sings " I used to live with Leonard before I knew ya" No the best version ever.

But the versions he did of some of his fathers stuff are immaculate.

Manic Street Preachers cover of Suicide is Painless... which was nice!

I've always been partial to Radiohead's cover of "Nobody does it better" the James Bond theme sung by Carly Simon.

Of course I heard the Radiohead version first so I'm possibly a bit biased.
