I know I posted up somethin of a simular tittle some months again when I started trining, but I was wondering if anyone here could steer me in the right direction of a website that has patterns for TKD illustrated in step by step diagrams and instructions.

While the ITF site is good it doesn't have diagrams. I know I came across one before somewhere but can no longer seem to find it with Google.

Hey memphis, I don't know if someone got back to you already but this site is pretty good:

I'm hoping to get something done to remedy this situation.!
I've heard the same complaint too often now from lads training in TKD.
You do a seminar and have it down pat, then your in class three days later and it's all "did he say this was straight or bent to here?" malarkey!

Not sure it will happen ,but what I am aiming to do is tape some of the most technical guys I know performing all the patterns up to first Dan on MiniDV.
I could then transfer the footage to Hard Disk Drive and burn it back to CD or DVD.I would then like to make this available to TKD students as a study aid.
This of course depends on my instructor giving his go ahead and some lads willing to perform the patterns to the best of their ability, purely for the benefit of other students.
I'm sure the time and performance would be given gladly, just not sure on the association agreeing to giving out this information?
In fairness, anyone could tape a few gradings and put this out but I would prefer to do this with the agreement and support of the group.I feel it would be a great training resource, properly executed, and a benefit to all TKD Stylists, irrespective of association. There may be minor differences, but all the lad learning wants is a reminder of how the pattern should go!
I'll look into this with my own instructor and association, and if Memphis wants to run it by his group as well,I may be able to travel up and tape your lads showing the patterns for your association?
If you want exclusive rights to your interpretation on the pattern or whatever it's fine by me.I intend to produce one for our association anyway eventually,we can compare and contrast if you would like!
I record on a Panasonic DVS60 and download thru a firewire connection on my video capture card.I use the generic software to compile and burn DVD so far, but am getting to grips with Adobe Premiere which ,I'm told,is a better piece of software.
    Best of luck anyways Memphis!

there is an encyclopaedia of TKD available on CD as well as in the traditional book format. My instructor has a copy and sometimes brings in his laptop to show us the videos of patterns contained in the encyclopaedia. I think that it is an official ITF publication. I've been meaning to burn myself a copy now for ages

I've had a condensed copy of the ITF encyclopedia with years now.
Mine is a one volume book though,no multi-media content!

This may contravene copyright law though! What I want to do is tape TKD Dan Grades performing patterns and give it out to junior grades to study and learn from.Like a masterclass on DVD! But not ripping off the General, or any other Master Ranked Instructor.
Just a recording of a guy doing the patern, not THE WAY to do it!

Sounds good to me ok, if ya can do it that is, I'm sure the are rules and regulations about recording such TKD stuff. (I'm not in the know though).

Thanks for the web link, I have come across another, not sure of the exact link, but I found it on the UCC clubs and socs section under patterns, it shows all the patterns in step by step diagram form. Worth the look.

I really can't speak for my intructor, but I'm sure he'd take it on board. I'll PM you with details of my intructors website, and if ya wanna post on his forum do so, then others can discuss it, but it sounds cool. Ya can always say that you know me through here (even though we haven't meet.... yet).

Great idea ! The only problem I can see is that many TKD groups have different ways of performing patterns now. So it might conflict with the way a students instructor is teaching the style.

    Other than that...

    ...is a cool idea ;)

I found this site useful for Taekwon-Do Patterns: http://www.tkdbalbriggan.com/training/patterns.php. It has a feature where you read all about all the patterns online, and download them as a pdf. Quite cool! You can also watch and discuss all the patterns too: http://www.tkdbalbriggan.com/index.php/info/patterns.

It would be sooooo much easier to press the 'new thread' button!

I was cranky and tired last night after a hard session :D
