Your link appears to be broken, but yeah i got some of this SMS.ac crap during the week. Turns out a friend thought it would be a great idea to put lots of peoples email addresses into it. Spam galore.

Its worse than that, if you put the same password as your email account into their forms it just takes your bloody email addresses.

i was half fooled by it... got it from what seems like someone i know.. at first it seems ok as there ARE free sms places out there... When i clicked to the next screen AFTER putting in my phone number it asked for hotmail email address and password.. then i was suspicious as it now looks like its getting addresses to send itself to...

I was dumb for doing it in the first place :D I dont think i signed up as i did not complete it.. They DO charge you for messages sent and recieved and also they send you messages themselves which they charge for,.. complete scam... should have checked it out before.. still i think im ok as like i said i did not complete the registration.

i got an email from the, saying my account was active.. i logged on but seems my phone is not activated so i picked delete account and said someone else signed me up and that they should use better security to prove peoples identity..
Its true anyone could be signed up without them knowing about it!

Number three - SMS.ac ripps off users who opt into 'clubs' (interest groups who correspond by SMS text messaging) by sending bogus text messages to thousands of users 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Users are billed by their carriers for the usage of SMS.ac services. SMS.ac also has an interesting habit of making canstant database updates that, quite coincidentally, always seem to cause users to get billed multiple times. At least one SMS.ac customer service rep has informed me that customers have never actually been reimbursed by SMS.ac except under very rare circumstances (good enough threat from customer).
rest of the page is worth a read about how they treat thier staff..

Got an invite from a friend whom I subsequently scolded. Still, if nothing else, it's the first time I've seen a site hosted in the Ascenion Islands.

Ah, good old British Islands with few / no native inhabitants, being used by the American military.

Yeah, I've gotten an invitation from nearly every single one of my friends at this stage. I was about to sign up yesterday, but decided on a whim to read the T&C and privacy policy. Which was enough to dissuade me completely.

    Yeah, got an invitation too!

    Knew well to stay clear..

Also got a couple of e-mails from mates about that 'Sign up now for a free iPod' crap! Not only do they realise it's all a poorly executed scam.. but it also says on the bottom of the page in clear black font "Offer only open to US residents!"

    If i hadn't already packed my letter-opener, i'd give them such a stabbing! :)

Id suggest signing into your hotmail and changing your password from there if you gave them your email and p/w. I always change my p/w regularly just to make sure.

I stupidly enough signed up and didn't read the T&C, well not most of them.
I thought that they would just send one email to my mates but no they were gettin them every day.

One friend's work email was on it which I didn't realise, now have one very angry friend who won't speak to me. I deleted the account straight away once I heard that this friend was geting emails every day, she was still texting me abuse sayin she was still getting emails so I wrote a very threatening email to them about it. I don't know if they've stopped sending her emails because she won't talk to me.

So stupid thing i did and lost a friend over, moral of the story............don't sign up!!

You have to be able to unregister for these kind of texts easily and free of charge in this country. if you cant, contact your service provider for info on what to do...
