Just to clarify an argument i had with a few mates the other nite:
the comunity cards were 5c,6c,8h,10c,Ac but one of the lads turned over the Kc(and3d) in his hands, does the Kc replace the 5c in the community flush, or does the pot get split between everyone playing as the flush was the highest hand possible??

Well I'm not sure if you typed it wrong but there is no flush on that board, there's only 4 clubs and 1 heart.

However if there were 5 clubs on the board then yes the Kc does play as it makes a better flush i.e Ac,Kc,10c,8c,6c flush beats a Ac,10c,8c,8c,6c,5c flush.

If he held a 4c or lower club then it would be a split pot as the 4c or lower club wouldn't play.

Its a specific case of the general principle.

All players *must* make the best 5-card poker hand they can from the 7 cards available. You may not declare a lower hand then your cards could make by the way (I found that out yesterday from Luke Ivory). In a casino you are asked to "declare" which means, declare the best 5 cards hand you can make. Your friend can declare a hand of the same rank "Flush", just like two people can declare "two pair" but that doesnt make it a tie!

So AKT86 of clubs is a better poker hand then AT865c.

    DeV.

    Tom,
Count me in for your charity competition. And if you need a driver over the next few weeks (for the charity rather than just coming back from the pub) then just give me a shout. I'll be in the Fitz with my back to the wall watching the doors.
    Cheers! Des
