Got the broadband modem etc stuff yesterday
connected and ran the wizard etc

for the connection test I got this

    LAN connections
Test your Ethernet connection - PASS

    WAN connections
    Test ADSL sychronization - PASS
Test ADSL (ATM OAM) loopback test - FAIL
Test PPP/PPPoE server connection - PASS
    Ping default getaway - FAIL

apparently the Ping test always fails

I then had no problem connecting to the web and downloading songs in 19 secs as opposed to something like 8 or 9 mins
i.e. it looks like everything is working properly and broadband is installed successfully

so does it matter that the Test ADSL (ATM OAM) loopback test failed?
    thanks

Yes the loopback should not have failed.
Having said that if u try the tests again i doubt it will fail again.

The loopback is a signal sent to ur local exchange and sent back i.e loop.
Its tested 4 times so if it failed once it would show as FAIL.
You might have fiddled with the wire at the time it happened though.

    It should be fine...
