    Hey all,
I'm in need of a program to convert dvd to avi. I got Dvd shrink to get the clits i want from the dvd but they are still in dvd format. Any info much appreciated. Free download is always preferred.

I used lots of programs before but by far the easiest to use was EasyDivX...Gives you a choice as to what size, format, aspect ratio, and subtitles to use...

    http://www.downseek.com/download/21833.asp

theres a link....by the way its as easy to use as the name suggests......takes a while if your not running a big system....like on my old P3 500 it took about 10 hours but the rips are perfect DivX quality

Try AutoGK. It's supposed to be really good for newbie encoders. A few clicks and your done kinda thing.

    edit:

    @ hacksaw,

there's a mpeg2 encoder for nero6 that will convert avi, mpg etc to dvd video files and then burn them as a dvd movie.

    thanks,will try get that tool
...kaimera...do i have to downlad nerovision first, then the encoder (as nero's site tells me) or can i just get the encoder and use nero 6 as normal with the added option?

    cheers

Depending on what you want to use the avi for, you might find pocketdivxencoder useful - Has lots of presets for various PocketPCs etc, but just as useful for making regular divx rips. And use dvddecrypter to copy the disc to your HD first - It makes the process less prone to read errors.

    Hope that helps.
