    Help needed,
I need next Monday off on short notice for a valid reason.

I already have been led to believe i'll get no holidays for xmas bar the public ones.

Any advice on how to deal with the asshole of a supervisor :(

call in sick, and get a doc in the hospital, you are going to visit your friend in, to sign a note for you, then there is absolutely nothing he can do.
    Even from the legal perspective.
with the note in hand, he can't even make you come into the office

Can that hospital thing be done ?

I mean **** this lark of people above you in work screwing you over to suit their holidays and then you can't get a day off for something important :(

Why can't you go see the relative in the evening or at the weekend?

Got the xmas off after all :D

My realitive couldnt see me at the weekend as they were recovering.

I saw them anyway after lunch as I managed to get a half day after much begging.

Just annoyed at pricks of middle-managers flexing their muscles thats all.

In cases like this (soemones in hospital / likely to die / etc.) with close family you are likely to be entitled to force majeur leave. I think it's a maximum of 5 days in any 5 years.
