I'd have to say Massa. He's had a few seasons in F1 and should stettle down more. He's very fast and has potential to get a really good seat in the next couple of seasons. JV, on the other hnad, is at the wrong end of his career. His 5 years at BAR destroyed him and I don't think he's really driven (excuse the pun) anymore. He was pretty bad the last few races he did for Renault, I think he'd be better in a managerial role or team ownership role if he wants to stay in F1.

Def JV, by a mile. Massa may be fast, but he's an awful tool. Personally I don't rate Massa highly at all. He's not been exactly stellar since his debut, if you compare to Raikonnen, Alonso, Webber etc, and yet he still gets a lot of hype, as though people are waiting for the epiphany. I'd rather have Sato than Massa tbh , he makes brilliant starts, is fast and throws it off with less regularity than before, so at least he is improving his consistency :p. Actually, I'd really rather have Heikki Kovaleinen, did anybody see the Race of Champions? He kicked ass... hopefully he'll make his way into F1 before we lose him to Rally, we need more drivers like him.

Kovaleinen needs a bit more experience, but he is one to watch.

Ok, you don't rate Massa, but what the hell has JV done since '97? If you exclude his two years in VERY good Williams his F1 career has been very average.

Massa I think. JV is too far gone and while he's certainly a gutsy driver and tends to be good to watch, I think he may not be his good old self. Hope I'm wrong as he could breath some new life into F1 if he's up to scratch.

Well Eoinb, lol.. I have to agree, JV has done toss all since 97, but he is out of the two, the better driver. He may not have done much since then, but he has won a world championship so he's a proven winner. Lets not forget, that up until this season gone, BAR were basically sh1t, they were on a par with Jordan (it pains me to say that, being a Jordan fan) so JV was doing his best in a crap car that no-one was going to win in. It would suck the life out of any driver to be stuck in a team that was so obviously going downhill (engine failures at the worst possible moment anyone?).

He's also good for the sport being the no-bullsh1t kinda guy that he is. He is so much fun to watch (as mentioned above).

In truth, he wouldn't be my first choice if I were to choose a driver lineup, but between Massa and JV, I'd have to go for Villeneuve.

    Doper Than U:
It is very likely that JV will outperform Massa. Massa is talented, but lacks the X factor.
If Massa does beat JV, his '97 WDC will look very tainted.

Agreed. If Massa beat him it would be HIGHLY embarrassing.

as i said in other threads, villeneuve's mind-games are what made him champion. i expect him to psych out massa as he always does to his 'team-mates' vintage jv :D

I think JV has played a blinder. I think Sauber are going to be one of the top teams this year and surprise a hell of a lot of people. They've invested wisely in their design and testing facilities over a number of years and I can see the C24 being a great car now that their wind tunnel (the best in F1) and their new super-computer (one of the most powerful in the world) have been completed, plus their switch to Michelin will help them immensely. JV never had a team mate who was a challenge to him in BAR, this won't be the case with Massa who has already raced two seasons with Sauber. Massa is fast but too inconsistent still and was wiped out by Fisichella more often then not. I can see JV on quite a few podiums this year.
