OK first i need my ass kicked for buying this in the first place but I needed a new pc and was on a budget so I got a dell dim3000 only problem is I only figure out later that i does not have an agp port. I dident want it for games but once i know i cant i want to. Is there any pci cards that would perform better than the 96MB on board i am getting at the moment or should i just wait and get a new motherboard and agp
it has a p4 3.0 and 512 ram only thing letting me down is the graphics

    Cheers

Yeah go to komplett.ie and look at pci graphics cards, some of them are pretty damn good. I've heard that Dell sometimes make their cases in such a way that a new motherboard won't go into it, so I think a pci grahics card would be your best bet. There's 2 cards on komplett and they look decent enough. If you have a pci express slot, then you're sorted!

that 3000 dosent have PCI-E, he'll lhave to stick with standard PCI. Still some good cards out there though.

    Have a look here

Bear in mind that if you have anything else plugged into a PCI slot (like a modem for example) the graphics card will have to share bandwidth with it.

Could you replace the motherboard with a more standard version with Agp.

I think Dell should really give a warning that your graphics upgrade path is limited on these PC's.

I have a Dell but it has an AGP slot as its 5XXX Dimension. I was quite surprised when my sister also got one and it didn't.

You are restricted on putting a MoBo into Dell cases. Its not that the MoBo don't fit (they are ATX), just that the Reset/Power/Hard drive light cable endings are a custom one perculiar to Dell. So unless you are really good with wiring/soldering, you will need a new case. I think the Dell power supply is standard though.

Aint the RAM in Dells finicky too.Know sometimes you have probs getting RAM for dell if they arent from dell or a dell dealer. Can it be used in another Mobo?

If you go the PCI route try here nVidia PCI cards (MX&5200) & ATI PCI cards (700&9200)

Ignoring all the dodgey Dell advice....

No PCI card is going to give you decent 3D performance. You bought the wrong PC. Can you not return it?
