I'm in the US at the moment and the PS2's are only $149 for the console and 1 controler.

Can they be got this price in Ireland ?

And would they work with our power outlet ?

About E112.. pretty good. Though not spectacular!

Considering you can one of the bundles in Game for E179 (or E189) with GTA:SA etc.

read the underside of the psu and see if it says it ill work on 110 - 240 V. If it does then your fine. I havent seen the psu on the new on emyself but if its a standard voltage (4.5, 6 etc) it should be easy to get a new one over here.

    One more thing to consider:

Is it the new slimline PS2? Cos i read somewhere that the new slimline PS2 can't be chipped, as of yet!

I'm sure a mod chip will be out in the near future, but it's just something to consider.

PS - have a search for slimline PS2 on Boards.. you'll find a good bit of information about modding it. For example:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=2094140&postcount=7
(regarding using ModChipsIreland.com to chip the new slimline PS2)
thanks i was talking to him since seemed like a good bloke i wanted the slimline PS2 chipped but he did not recomend it at ALL. Chips frying burning out lasers ect. Not stable at all. The Std. PS2 is much better for modding."
EDIT: Also found this on ModChipIreland (updated Sunday night):
    28 - 11 -2004 UPDATE
"The new slim line V12 PS2 CAN be chipped, but at the moment reports suggest that some consoles are failing after the chip is installed. There are various fixes becoming available to make it more reliable, but until there is a final 100% working solution we won`t be chipping the slimline consoles. We expect to start chipping them just after christmas or maybe a little before."

never mind power, it wont play any euro games,
if you buy that youll have to import all your games, at a premium, from the us.

Also, make sure your TV handles the American TV signal standard, NTSC.

Just to let you know, Matrix Infinity chips have a firmware upgrade to not burn out the lazers, information is on there website. And the slim ones burn out with or without mod chips.

Thanks for all the info ppl...

Yes it's the slim line one, and I was lucky to get one at all there like hot cakes over there... I was in the Toys'r'us in NY city and they where sold there too, I ended up getting one in a Wal-Mart in Buffalo on Wednesday...

I posted it from the US as I didn't want to carrying it throught 3 different cites & customs.

I bought Ghost Recon 2 while I was there, so at least I can play that when it arrives.

All I need to get it to work here is a 8.5V adapter with our standard 3 pin plug.

And as far as chiping it a mate is big into chipping PS's & DVD players etc so there's no worries there.
