New grips

    Hi folks,

Not a regular in here at all, have searched but can't find anything recent or similar.

I've been away from golf for a very long time, my old clubs seem in ok nick, stainless and no rust. Not interested in spending money for the moment on new clubs, but wouldn't mind playing a few rounds / bit of driving range and see if I get the bug back.

Clubs would have been used a lot over many years, so I think new grips probably wise. Found a few of the big name places charging around 16/ 20 for grips and 2 to fit. Haven't found any great value in ordering grips online and doing it myself... But have found a few adds on the done deal / adverts for people offering golf pride grips fitted for a 10er a club (I'm comparing the same model here as the ones above, not just brand) . At the same time I'm on those sites I'm getting pop up adds for shein and temu with what appears to be fake golf pride grips. Just wondering is there anyone could give me a steer on what is too cheap to be true? I could see how someone with just a few grips could do this cheaper in their spare time than a massive shop and all the stock holding and overheads that goes with that, but if I can't find the golf grips online for that price, now likely is it someone can supply and fit genuine ones for a tenner ??

Thanks very much for any tips.

    Welcome back to golf!

As you said I wouldnt pay the main shops €20 a pop for grips, seems a bit over priced.

I've always ordered mine from clubhousegolf. No VAT or import duties either. I use tour velvet grips on all my clubs and you would pick those up handy for €7 to €8 each there. Not sure on fitting, I've just gone to Spawell and had one of the lads there fit mine, think last time it was €50 for the full bag.

No chance anyone can supply and fit genuine Golf Prides for a tenner. I can guarantee he is supplying from Temu. Which is fine once you know what you are getting. I've fitted the Temu Golf Pride ones and can honestly say the only difference is that they would probably need to be replaced after 18 months as opposed to 2-3 years with the genuine Golf Prides. I got 15 from Temu for 35 quid including the tape

Is replacing them yourself easy to do if you don't have ALL of the necessary tools - like a vice?
Or, more to the point, is it easy to make a boll1x of it?

I had used Nordica Golf previously.

Can't remember if it was price or import duty that meant last change I didn't use them but they were good and came as kits. Very straight forward.

Easy to do once you have done 1 or 2 of them. Check youtube for some tutorials. Just need the tape, some solvent, a hook for removing the old grip and obviously the grips. I've started using a small compressor now but it's not essential.

(When I say a small compressor I mean a small compressor. Too much force and you will bulge the grip)

only tip I would add is use lots of solvent, lots, if the grip does not slide on in one quick motion it's dead
