Noticed this morning in the back garden that the wall underneath the fence that we share with our neighbors has seven lumps taken out it. Looks like they had some sort work done on the other side and someone drilled through the wall causing this damage. Thinking about saying something and sending a text. How would you broach the subject? Or would you bother? Tks

Looks like it was done as part of drainage, possibly.

There are two options: Call the neighbour over and get an apology and Get over it. Or call the solicitor. I know which one I would do.

worth a conversation. Do you live in an area that gets a lot of frost ?
concern would be repeated freezing in the drilled out area. Getting a waterproof coating painted into the drilled area.

    Its doubtful they know.

If relations are good with them its not worth making a deal out of it. You could fix that your self in 10 minutes with a bucket of premix.

id agree, the solicitor would be the trump option, as others have stated, they probably arent aware of the damage, so just call into them, and go from there

Looks like they've attached something to the opposite side and the drill has gone slightly deep and knocked a bit away on your side. As someone else has said, it's not a big deal. If you're friendly with the neighbour just mention it and let them know. Get some premix and fill it and forget it.

Drill twice as many holes through theirs. That will make you feel better.

    You need hydrochloric acid too

Not hydrofluoric acid, don't buy that

Your neighbour probably doesn't even realise it has happened. Looks like some bolt or hole was put in the far side of the wall and hole went a little too deep.

I'd let the neighbour know that there's a bit of damage done on your side of the wall (in a neighbourly way) then see what they do(if anything) from there.

If nothing, no apologies or actions etc, that's pretty crap but you need ask yourself is it that big of a deal for yourself. Then go from there.

If you just patch up the damage you'll always be looking at it.

Might look better if you fill the holes and cover them with some type of cladding.

I wouldn't be too hard on the neighbour it looks like an honest mistake.

haha, I just sent him a message and asked if any work had been done on his side recently. Turns out they had gas cylinders installed. So he'll come over during the week. All good.
