He is in a coma after being smashed over the head with a steel pipe.

The guy who did it is a triple murderer and rapist so it must have been some kind of dispute between them.

mmm: huntley was slashed about 20 years ago by another inmate intending to kill him.

Being what he is Huntley was always a target for eliminating in the prison class ranking:

I hope the guy who did it suffers the same fate he was just as bad.

    I hope he survives.

And suffers many more attacks just like this one.

    Ridiculous comment .

Huntley deserves the worse death possible.

The exact opposite. I hope he doesn't die, and is subjected to more (plenty more) of the same treatment.

Great to hear, hope he felt every bit of it

So does the guy that killed him.

How is my comment ridiculous when the guy who attacked him is just as bad? He should also die or is he ok?

Not that I think Ian Huntley is any loss to society, but anyone cheering a violent attack by a violent prisoner in a high security jail is not using more than a couple of very tired brain cells.

If high security prisons are so disorganised that this can happen, next time it could be used against a prison officer, or for a jail break.

SO you think he's worse than this guy?

Anthony Russell, 43, is thought to have inflicted serious head injuries on Huntley after allegedly attacking him with a spiked metal pole six times in a prison workshop.

Russell is serving a whole-life term for murdering Julie Williams, her son David Williams and Nicole McGregor in October 2020. He was found guilty of the rape of Ms McGregor in March 2022.

He believed Mr Williams was “in a relationship with his girlfriend” when he strangled him on Oct 21, 2020. He then killed Mr Williams’s mother to stop her speaking to police.

Days later, Russell is thought to have lured Ms McGregor to woodland in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, where he raped and strangled her. He went on the run and was found by police in the back of a stolen car.

What's your list of priorities then? Is there a points system?

Is the murder of three adults, and the rape of one, really less evil than the murder of two children?

I meant to say that - I just want wanted to check if it was his child, but it wasn't. He knew the father/partner - and helped in the search for the woman after he'd raped and murdered her.

Definitely a fine upstanding man in comparison to Huntley. 🙄

It's the third time he's been seriously injured. Probably more, less serious incidents also.

That's a pity, he didn't serve his time

On the bright side.…it didn't rain today

The attacker is an extraordinary scumbag who doubtfully cared about Huntley's victims - possibly a grab at glory because of Huntley being at the bottom rung. Zero empathy for Huntley from me, but this reminds me of a prison attack years ago - also in England - where the rapist of a teenage girl was disemboweled. Well there were calls for knighthoods. The two men responsible were utter degenerates though, who also hurt vulnerable people.

So generally I wouldn't look at these incidents of jailhouse justice as noble acts of vigilantism, borne out of a fight for the victim. It's just the behaviour of dangerous, unhinged individuals itching to fulfil their violent urges and knowing they'll be congratulated for it. And their target is also a dangerous, unhinged, violent individual but it's not done out of compassion for the latter's victim(s).

    I dunno.

I'd be all for Hunger Games-esque beatings of one degenerate to the next in these prisons. Gradually wilt away the lowest of the low.

Yeah. Justice by scumbag isn’t what we should be cheering.

A thread that's really about who is the best evil or sadistic person...? There is no redemption or honour roll in this attack. Evil, sadistic, sick or whatever is what Huntlley or his attacker will always be remembered for. That the attacker here has committed another evil act just proves the whole life tariff given to them was totally justified.

One of the first major British crimes to have its search, investigation, covered by internet news sites with the 24 hour web coverage by BBC News Online. I think it was the first big crime I followed daily. I had, for the first time, internet access and Huntley was giving interviews and insights. His idiot girlfriend Maxine Carr (and Huntley) seemed to be more worried about her job in the school that she failed to get… claiming the girls were sorry about it.

There was lots of red herrings, strangers, white vans, green car etc.. and it turned out to be the monsters within the community. A parents nightmare.

Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, both 10 years old in their fake Manchester United football jerseys, last seen walking arm in arm in Soham, Cambridgeshire on the 4th of August 2002.

They'd both be 34 now had they lived.

Nick Pope the Newcastle United and England goalkeeper was in the same class as them in school.

Did not realise this. Can't imagine what that must have been like for him as a child trying to make sense of all of that.

I presume this is normal prison life for these people- if you’re on a life sentence with no chance of parole, then your world is the prison compound - as a result you’re likely going to be seeking out some meaning in your life- what could be better than killing a murderous pedophile to elevate yourself with your fellow murdering prison cell mates - probably worth a few bars of chocolate at least

The comments here reflect how a lot of men seem to think, including scumbags in prison: killing defenceless children is the worst possible crime...but raping and murdering women, who also can't defend themselves?...nah, not that big a deal.

You are right: both are as disgusting as each other
