Don't think we have one of these for 2026 yet, so here we go.

Said weather be damned this afternoon, and took a few hours off to try and get a few holes in. Rain held off for the first while, but was pretty consistent for the rest of the afternoon.

Played well though. Driver still hit and miss as usual, but when it worked it really worked. Started birdie, bogey, then 4 pars in a row. Poor drove on 7 put me OB, but managed to get in for a 7 after a good 2ns drive. 8-11 were fine as well, with a nice up and down after a poor tee shot on 11. Bogey on 12 which I'll always take (par 5's are killing me atm). 13 I played it safe with a 7i off the tee, and of course hooked that right into the gorse. Provisional was fine, then hooked another 7i into the gorse. Found it, chipped out, but ended with an 8. Hit my tee shot long on 14, but a nice chip gave me a tap in par. OB right with my drive in 15 resulted in a double, which was really frustrating. But finished par, bogey and bogey so I was relatively happy. Finished with 85 stokes / 40 points.

My short game is good at the moment, my long wedges are slowly improving, and my driving is my driving 😂 Enjoyed the 18 though, even with the rain, nice to get out.

26 points today for 15 holes, not bad off 7 for the day I guess. Horrid start, 4 worse after 2 so not too bad keeping it at that for rest of the round I guess. Getting a 15 footer for birdie is always nice, especially straight after a tap in par

Got my first round at my home course on Friday (albeit only 12 holes open). Didn;t realise there was a comp on with only 12 holes open, should've entered 😂

Played my best so far there, 21 points on the front 9 (+8 gross), 6 points on the back 3 (+3 gross). Just kept the ball in play, driver was working well, putting was very consistent (2 putted every hole) and a lot of them were very close. When I missed, it was always a tap in for the second one so I'll take that. Bit of work, few of them break a bit better and that could bring the scoring down further.

Starting the year quite positive, good round in Portmarnock with the society, now this one. Good feeling right now, lets see if that lasts 😋

First time picking up a club in 6 months on Sunday was on the 1st tee. Thankfully it was a fourball betterball and my partner was able to pick up the slack. My stats didn't make pretty reading but I know where I need to improve.

Playing off 20, scored 42 points for 16 holes a couple of weeks back. Feeling i peaked too soon in the season :) as i couldn't hit the ball out of my way last Sunday. Got cut 2 shots which is fair enough

Posting this as I'm quite chuffed with myself 😁

First qualifying round since early 2024, very little golf over the last 5 years, rejoined this year and shoot 42 points.

Just didn't miss anything inside 5 feet. Always backed up a bad shot with a good one.

Didn't feel like I was playing particularly well, just didn't make any big mistakes, kept the ball in play and was red hot with the putter.

Conditions weren't ideal, cold with a big wind, certain parts of the course still a bit damp and had to hit a few mud balls.

Nice scoring going on already this year 👍 Got out recently and managed 37 points — nothing spectacular but steady enough, kept it in play and the putter behaved for once. Feels good just getting rounds in again after the winter.

30 points off 9 in Corballs last week. Was delighted with it as bar one trip to the range 2 weeks ago haven't touched a club since September. Hit my irons really well.

Then 19 points off 10 in my home course yesterday, absolute muck. Irons were still ok but driver was awful. Couldn't have hit a barn door from 20 feet.

Yep Frisbee, sounds like golf alright. It's such a silly game. There's trends over a season, or based on a lot of practice. But as regards individual round scores, God only knows where they came from.

I got out yesterday for a round in the Jameson links. I registered the round before I started for the handicap and then by the time I got to the first tee realised it was a horrible mistake! Even with the three shot PCC it wouldn't come close to offsetting the effects of that wind. Or at least that's what I though. In fact, there must have been too few stupid people who registered a round to have any PCC, so it was even worse than I expected for my handicap. I think I had 29 points and played quite well to get it.

Ha had similar experience in Narin last Thursday, but it was weird, cos if wind was right to left, wind took the ball a good bit. So when was left to right wind, I played for it and the ball went dead straight. Into some awful positions then which was nearly impossible to recover. Had like 23 points off 11.

Regarding that course, I dont remember it being so tricky. Like a lot of the greens the run offs had 0 room for forgiveness. I know its links golf, but those runs off just sheer drops where unless you played a shot like Rory at 2023 Ryder Cup, you were goosed. Lot of links courses the run offs you could putt up crazy mounds which is fun, Narin wasnt it. But dont know if was always like that.

I had 17 points for 9 holes off 18 at my home course yesterday evening. Started well then I reached the 6th and 7th. I've been a member for about 6 months there and I still can't figure out how to play these 2 holes. Scratched both. Somehow hacked my way to a bogey on the 8th. I thinned my approach to the 9th par 3, but ended up on the back of the green courtesy of a deflection from the brow of a bunker. Sank the 30ft putt for birdie and headed off home delighted with myself. 🫠

haha same, played Corballis all winter and Irons are fairly dialled in with obviously not much use for the driver over an extended period. Got out at the weekend to a longer course and my driver, which is normally the stronger part of my game, was an absolute shitshow…would have been better off using a putter off the tee.

Fairly breezy long weekend just gone, my scores were muck. I have faith that global warming will stop in the next few weeks and we can all start posting less than horrific results soon.
