Hi guys what's the best website to use for hotels both in Ireland and UK bearing in mind sometimes bookings may want to be pre booked but pay on arrival?

I use the website for the hotels themselves, you usually get way better deals. Check our something like Booking.com if you want to see what is available int he area you're traveling to then check the hotel website itself.

Trivago searches through all the other websites like booking.com etc, I've always found it good. I find the hotel on Trivago, but usually check the hotel website first as often it's cheaper

I always book direct with the hotel. When I worked in hotels people always got cheaper bookings direct than with booking sites. So use the booking sites to search for your rooms, then call the hotel when you find one you want to book. Ask up front that they give you a cheaper rate than what you just found on the booking site and you will get anything from 10 to 20% off that price. If they dont give you that, its just a lazy staff member who isnt bothered, so just hang up and move on to calling the next hotel.

Sometimes people would phone up to alter a bookings made on booking sites and we would straight up tell them that if they go in and cancel the one made on the booking site and call us back in 5 minutes we will not only alter their booking but give them a cheaper rate.

Excellent guys thanks I agree yea. The map on booking with a price guide is handy but your correct probably better deal for both the customer and the hotelier to book direct through them
