Remaining dry but mostly overcast here near Tralee apart from a few lighter patches, 8.3C but the E'ly wind giving a chill factor of 4.5C and you can feel it , back with the heavy coat and hat on today pottering around doing a few jobs with a quickened pace!

From Carrigaline, Co. Cork expecting this shortly and until lunch time tomorrow or so. Out for walk earlier - very windy, getting windier. Dull, grey, bleak. People around here doing the shop early before rain sets in - lots of coal, kippins, blocks etc

only 3.8mm down here in Arklow

    It wouldn’t wet the bed

    Similar totals in Wexford

It’s raining lightly still but the sky is bright

A very different picture only up the road in Rathdrum, it's very wet here this morning. I've no measurements but I can tell by the roads and the accumulations in places that it's much more than 4mm so far today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭pureza

Just 5.6mm now and it’s gone even brighter and tapered off to a drizzle

    Very cold though at 5.9c

And this article appeared in the IRISH TIMES today:

Snow and big freeze could hit Ireland after weeks of wet weather, says Met Éireann forecaster

So how solid is this prediction? Usually I would ignore this if it was appearing in click bait type media BUT in this case its in the Irish Times so I took note

The forcaster mentioned in the headline is Met Éireann climatologist Paul Moore

I linked that over in the FI thread early this morning

This is not the thread for it but he thinks the strat warming that’s coming will shove the cold trapped in Europe west enough to affect us

It’s as likely as unlikely,we just have no way of knowing

He’s positing it as the theory he thinks will pan out

@pureza "This is not the thread for it"

TBH I am a bit confused these days as to what thread, posts can go to here in the Weather topic. Few weeks back i started a thread about a named storm and that got closed after 3 posts, yet other storm threads since have remained alive. I wonder could some of the mods genuinely clear this up as to what can go where? Or is it arbitrary and depends and we have to just do our best and guess.

This thread is Current weather conditions Feb 2026, surely OK for this

This thread is for reporting each days weather

It’s kinda obvious to be fair if you read it

@aidanodr The Winter General Discussion thread more appropriate for what you posted above.

    Link:

Just to note that mods can't move posts between threads anymore.
