Anyone treating themselves or someone else to a watch or watch-related gift this year? I bought that Seagull from cyclotourist for my daughter. She has never worn a watch and that includes 2 different ones I bought her over the years, but I'm persisting. She had asked for "jewellery" so that's my excuse. She has an interest in all things Chinese. She learned Mandarin off her own bat and did it for the leaving cert and she even works part time in a Chinese restaurant where she gets to speak to the staff and chefs in Mandarin, some of whom have no english. So I thought she might appreciate and like the Seagull and maybe even get some nod of recognition from here work colleagues.

Is it just me or is the Christmas watch market less…. bustle-y than usual? Seems quiet enough on here and on adverts anyway.

Fingers crossed she likes it, although i have my doubts as youngsters nowadays dont seem to be into watches much.

My eldest had an F91 a few years back which he wore for about a month before casting it aside, and my daughter asked for a nice plain analogue Casio from Argos, and that seen maybe 2 weeks of wrist time before going into the drawer.

Apparently they "don't need watches" now. My son is hard to buy for and I have taken a punt on a smart watch for Xmas, so there is a high probability ill be wearing it myself come January!

Bought myself a Seiko Astron from a lad on Adverts. Getting herself to give it to me, so haven't seen it in the flesh yet. Can't wait.

My eldest lad, 21, took a shine to a 3133 chrono I had assembled from left over bits as I revived a Sturmanskie for myself.

It's a classic case with beads of rice bracelet. He wears it all the time.

Fair play, @fat bloke your daughter sounds like a great self starter and individual. Hopefully she appreciates the sentiment and the gift.

Either way, she sounds like she has her head screwed on.

My lad has no real interest but hopefully he turns that around

Was planning to re- buy IWC Pilot, but need to offload my Oris First

    Happy Christmas to me!

We should do like a forum Kris Kindle where we buy each other watches😁😁😁. At least then we can have assurances of quality 😁

It's a hard thing to buy for someone, unless you know what they wanted or were thinking about getting. Something like a casioak is handy (boys or girls) as a gift, because it's not too expensive, handy to have something for holidays/swimming or whatever, it's not as thick as the other g-shocks so easy to wear. If they're into watches, grand, always useful to have a beater.
