Has anyone used a Revolut ESIM to buy Data Roaming (want it for USA), and how does it work ?

And I guess it is possible to work an Esim on Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra ??

yes your Samsung can use esims

I haven’t used Revolut eSIM myself.

But it should be easy to compare to some others. Compare to Jetpac, Airalo and GoMoWorld.

I know people who’ve used gomoworld and never had any issues (visitors to EU).

You should be able to find a 10% off promo for GoMoWorld from a google search (think there’s even one on GoMo.ie)

Okay, not many responses, so I take it not many have tried this out.

So, so far I have bought a 3gb data roaming 30 day package on the Revolut app. You buy that first, and then are given the option to install the relevant (1Global) esim. That set up fine in the SIM manager on the S24.

It appears that you then have options to set up your preferred SIM (Virgin physical SIM or Esim) to use for 1. Phone Calls 2. SMS texts and 3. Mobile DATA.

As I am not Roaming yet, my understanding is that you can select your preference for each of the above, and STILL leave the physical SIM switched on - so I presume you can still receive calls and texts on that - as you can toggle either SIM on or off. But I will report further on its use in practice…….

As for cost:- 3Gb of DATA for 30 days with Revolut costs €9.50. By comparison, an Add-On Roaming DATA package for USA 30 days with Virgin, of 500mb costs €55.

Have a look at local providers in the Usa, they will give a much better option for calls and data allowances, Lyca mobile operate in the usa under Lyca Usa and offer esim. I would also turn off your Irish sim while over there if you can survive without the number.

I suppose that’s the beauty of GoMo (standard Ireland sim). You can turn off mobile service, and you’ll still receive calls and texts over wifi even whilst roaming.

But yes you can mix and match services from having dual sims
