Guide to setting up FreeSat and Saorview on a new LG TV

A few posters have mentioned that it is not possible to set up new LG TVs with Freesat and Saorview where the Saorview channels are in a logical order. I have found a way of doing this.

1. In the initial setup select UK as the country and enter the UK postcode for the region you want.
2. At the tuning stage, select antenna (and not satellite) and run the AutoTune.
3. Set auto-update to off.
4. Export the channels from TV to USB.
5. Use a PC application to reorder the terrestrial channels (I used ChanSort).
6. Import the channels from the USB to the TV.
7. Use the 'long press' option to store RTE1 on button 1.
8. Go to AutoTuning again and deselect antenna and select satellite and run the auto-tune.
9. Set auto-update to on.
10. Use the 'long press' option to store BBC1 on button 2.

The TV now has both the Saorview and Freesat channels in order. Switching between terrestrial and satellite is a single long press of 1 or 2.

Good workaround. The operative words there are new LG TV's, but I think posters have reported that new could mean as far back as 2020? Something to do with the version of the Operating System inbuilt.

My OLED 55B7V from around 2017 allows for channel reordering using the Programme menus. But it cannot load the RTE Player since August 2024 because of the older OS. Life is Good, but complicated at times.

Fair play, I've seen this option suggested on here before, I've tried it but "Step 5" is beyond my paygrade, so I live with my current setup. Like dxhound2005 says "Life is Good but complicated" Good luck to others with the process. Again on a 2021 LG I can get RTEPLAYER, TG4 but no VMPLAY, on that model I have Saorview in order and Freesat no bother, on a newer model its Saorview in order but not Freesat and RTE, VM, TG4, C4 players. Either way thanks for the suggestion.

As a workaround I have the Freesat epg bookmarked on the tv Web browser and set recordings manually.
